Samprikta Basu is a recent UCLA graduate that majored in Computer Science & Engineering with a concentration in Public Affairs now working as a software engineer at Google. With six years of experience as an activist with Amnesty International USA, she has gained extensive expertise lobbying at both national and local levels, leading grassroots campaigns, and training advocates in effective techniques. Alongside Laura, she co-founded and led a SWE@UCLA committee that bridges engineering and policy, fostering meaningful discussions on civic advocacy within UCLA’s engineering community. A strong advocate for collective action, she is committed to building coalitions and empowering engineers to influence policy change. Serving with Laura as a FY 25-26 Public Policy AG Co-Lead, Samprikta is incredibly excited to connect with others in SWE who share this passion and help grow a network of impact-driven leaders across disciplines!
