When we graduated with degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, we envisioned careers in software, hardware, or research not in semiconductor manufacturing. Yet here we are two new grads thriving in business-focused roles within a highly technical industry. This session will explore how we navigated this unexpected path, adapted to steep learning curves, and leveraged our technical backgrounds in non-technical roles. We’ll share strategies for embracing ambiguity, building confidence, and creating value in spaces we never imagined ourselves in. Attendees will leave with actionable insights on how to stay open-minded, identify transferable skills, and succeed in roles beyond traditional expectations.
Learning Objectives:
Apply coding, circuits, and problem-solving skills to business, operations, and strategy roles effectively.
Build confidence and adapt using self-learning, mentorship, and curiosity in uncertain, nontraditional roles.
Cross-functional teamwork enables success in complex industries through collaboration across diverse disciplines.
